• You tell us what service you want us to do: advice on tax planning such as a particular transaction eg sale of some property, purchase software to prepare your taxes yourself, respond to a letter from the IRS or other tax authority, or have your tax return filed or amended.
• We see all your documents relating to your requirement asking pertinent questions.
• We propose our fee up front on the service you need so you can determine whether our cost is worth the service.
• If necessary, we research the tax laws relating to your situation, for instance can you reduce your tax bill by taking advantage of some exception?
• We complete the service, for instance, you sign the return, pay the agreed fee and we e-file the return, or you mail the return to the tax authority
• If the tax authorities raises any questions relating to the return, we assist you, or if you give us power of attorney, we deal directly with the tax authority

It always helps if you send your last year's return both to check if anything is missing this year, or maybe something wrong last year. This is especially true in the following cases:-

• You filed Head of Household, claimed EIC
• You did not reside in the United States or resided in more than one state
• You had your own business and/or an office in your home
• You have or have had an NOL
• You paid AMT
• Carry overs. Recent tax increases especially for those earning over $200k, limit many deductions. These should be carried over to later years. Make sure you or your tax preparer understands this.
